Disney - Marathon and Family Fun PART ONE

Yes, I know this post is almost 2 months overdue.
I decided about a year ago to run another marathon.  I distinctly remember after the first one I ever ran I swore I'd never run another one.  Funny how the mind has selective memory until you're in the throes of what is was you SWORE you'd never do again.  The last trip we'd made to WDW was October 2010, so we were long overdue for another visit.  I'm going to break this trip up into a grouping of days.  It'll help me to not get overwhelmed with trying to cover this week long trip in one ginormous post.

Day 1 - Saturday
Plain and simple, we were up at the crack o' dawn and still missed our flight going down.  I thought the check in girl was nuts when she said our luggage wouldn't make our flight.  Well, duh, I know why.  The flight time was changed from 7:50am to 7:20am.  Tempers were running high at this point.  I needed a nerve pill.  I will say we have awful luck with Southwest, but they were very accommodating when I spoke to the gate girl.  She looked on the computer to find us a flight that would get us there the best way.  Turns out it was waiting for the next direct flight from RDU.  My only problem now was finding someone to get my race packet.  No race packet = no race.  The whole point of our trip was for me to run.  Thankfully two high school friends were also racing, were already in Florida and were available to help me.  My only problem was getting copies of my license and race form pick-up to them.  Can I just give Rick from Cracker Barrel in Raleigh a HUGE thank you? This dear man faxed my information to my friend so she could go get my packet.

We finally made it down to FL by 3:30pm on Saturday.  The day was a complete blur.  Our room was super nice and had a nice view of the Magic Kingdom.  Fireworks every night right from our room.

Like Father, Like Son

Watching the Duke game.

Champs

Andrew played basketball this season for our town. Lately he eats, sleeps, dreams basketball. He loves Duke basketball (genetically inherited from his father) and LOVES Kyrie Irving. So, when the opportunity to play for FV came around he jumped at it. He took it seriously too. He practiced daily. He asked for pointers from his dad. Robbie and I had no expectation of how basketball would go for him. Soccer and tae kwon do were fun for a time and then he grew bored. Not basketball. He wants to play year round. I'm super proud and happy to report that our own Spud Webb and his Bulldog teammates won their age division championship. I never in a million years saw that coming! My boy put his heart into it. Every game he was stealing the ball, rebounding and shooting. He was praised by many parents for his quickness and skill. Color me all shades of proud. His last three games he scored points for his team. I wish you could've seen the look on his face. Priceless.

Way to go Andrew and the Bulldogs!!!
