Dancing With the Stars

Nonnie and I were here (see above picture) last night. I took her for her birthday. We had a wonderful time. The men were smokin' hot and the ladies make wish I was 6 ft tall. If they are in the area next year I highly recommend going to see the show. Nonnie's camera battery went dead, so I only have one picture of the 2 of us at the show. Oh well! There is always next year.

PS. Nonnie thinks Lance Bass is hot. I whispered to her that he's gay and she replied with, "I don't care, he's still hot." Wonder if he'd reconsider and become my stepfather?

Basketball

Kay Yow - lost her battle to cancer today, but was welcomed home by her Savior. She left behind a huge legacy and an even bigger void for many.

Latest Addiction

I've always been a stickler for drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. I picked the habit up in college and have stuck with it. It's good for me, I feel better when I drink water and if anything it does help to keep the snacking at bay (well, sometimes). My latest addiction is Propel Fit Water. I cannot drink enough of that stuff. Yes, I know, it has calories, but it's sooooo stinking good. I can drink 8 glasses of water in no time flat. For those of you having a hard time getting your daily allotment of water in, try Propel Fit Water. You won't be sorry.

Roly Poly

We have a little roly poly on our hands. Mr. Zachary can now roll over from his back to his tummy and his tummy to his back. Way to go little man!

He can also grab his toes, grab and bat at toys and pull on things to make them play music. He's fine tuned his push ups and can do so with much ease. He's been holding his head up for a long time too. He loves to talk and coo and can entertain himself on his play mat for up to 30 minutes.
He drools up a storm now. Dr. Bowman said it could be a sign that he's ready for solids OR he's getting teeth. Stay tuned on that one.

Today is a very special day. Today is Nonnie's birthday. Happy Birthday Nonnie! We love you more than you'll ever know.

Today's letter is S

Today was "S day" for Zachary. S is for shot and Synagis. I dearly despise these days. Zachary weighs in at 9 lbs 8 oz just a week shy of being 6 months old (adjusted age 13.5 weeks). My little man is slowly beefing up. Dr. Bowman wants us to up his caloric intake just a smidge to hopefully beef him up even more. Zachary is gaining, which is good, but rate of his weight gain has tapered off just a bit. Does that make sense? Pretty much the cute little dots they chart on that pretty blue piece of paper are moving in a northeast direction, but not as far apart as the doctors would like to see.

We go back in 2 weeks for Zachary's 6 month appointment. He'll be the lucky recipient of more shots (drats) and hopefully tipping the scales. No Biggest Loser for us.

Blessed Beyond All Measure

Do you ever have those days where you think about the things you've been blessed with and you're so floored by your feelings that your heart feels like it could burst? Today is one of those days. I look at my house (dirty as it is) and feel overwhelmed with its beauty and especially today its heat (thank you Progress Energy and Garner Gas). I watch my sweet miracle baby and think of my 2 other boys (one at day care the other at work) and my heart is on the verge of becoming enlarged to the point of busting. What in the world did I do to deserve this?

I am without a doubt blessed beyond all measure.

Latest and Greatest

Zachary had a follow-up eye appointment last Tuesday at Duke. We received great news! His right eye is completely clear of ROP and his left eye has about 15 min (ROP is measured in clock hours) of ROP. Dr. Freedman said most doctors would give a patient a clean bill of health and she has no doubts that Zachary's eyes will be completely clear of ROP, but she likes to give a clean bill of health when both eyes are ROP free. We go back February 6th where I hope we will receive the official clean bill of health. You can tell Zachary's eyes are better just by how he reacts to us. It's wonderful watching him smile and laugh at our silly facial expressions. I.am.in.love.

At long last we are finally on the road to normalcy.

Run For Food - Ocean Isle Half Marathon

This weekend I decide to try my luck at a half marathon. This is my first half marathon since last March. Needless to say there is room for improvement. I haven't trained at all. Stupid, stupid, stupid girl. I was on par for a decent time until the blister on my left foot got the best of me. I sucked it up and kept going. I don't have my official time, but I believe I crossed at 2 hours 4 minutes. I have another half coming up in Morehead City at the end of February. Hopefully I can manage to get a few more training days in.

Andrew and Zachary's Aunt Kat came along with me this weekend. She did the 5K and declared she's going to run this race again next year. I'm going to have her running the half with me. Thanks Aunt Kat for letting me stay with you this weekend.

I "Heart" My Brother

Andrew really adores his little brother. He wants to help us all the time with Zachary. On the flip side, Zachary is very fond of his silly big brother. Zachary responds with a huge smile when Andrew calls out, "Hey, Buddy!" They are two peas in a pod.

"Santa" bought said bike for Andrew this Christmas. Our last house had a ski slope for a driveway and we really didn't feel like watching a 3 year old perform kamikaze style tricks so we never bothered with a two wheeled toy. Now that we have a flat driveway... let the fun begin. I apologize for laughing during this video, but if you could have seen this lesson in person you would have laughed too. Trust me.

Catch Up

I've got Christmas and Christmas and more Christmas stuff to post. I'm behind the 8 ball I know. I'm back at work now, which makes posting a little more difficult.

We had a great time celebrating Christmas this year. Andrew and I made a birthday cake for Jesus that rocked. Completely rocked. I have a little artist on my hands I believe. It was tasty too. Andrew and Zachary were spoiled completely. Andrew understands that while "Santa" brought him gifts, the reason for Christmas is to celebrate Jesus' birthday. He got it. He understands. Good boy!

Zachary has an eye appointment today. Pray it is our last one. I think it will be, but I've been wrong before. He is getting so big and interacting with us more and more every day. We don't go to another doctor's appointment until February. I hope he gains a ton of weight.

I spoke prematurely about his sleeping habits. He slept through the night in FL, but came home to wake up ever 4 hours on the dot. He's started rolling over and many times that is the case. We just roll him back over and go back to bed, but 2:00am isn't a roll me over kind of moment. Thankfully Robbie takes that feeding so I can get some sleep since I have to get up at the crack of dawn to get to work.

Yes, I am back at work. It's bittersweet. I feel at ease knowing family is helping me right now and on February 1st he will be in Nonnie's care M-F.
