OPERATION: Reindeer Binkies

The time has come for Andrew to bid farewell to all of his binkies. It has come to our attention that Santa's reindeer are in desperate need of binkies to help them with their long journey on Christmas Eve. Much like the Angel Tree at your local mall, Operation Reindeer Binkies will give binkies to the binkyless reindeer. Our hope is that we can comfort these reindeer in their time of need. We are proud of Andrew's courageous effort. Santa is as well. He has promised to leave behind a special treat for Andrew for his act of generosity and courage.

"Now Dasher! Now Dancer! Now Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! On, Cupid! On, Donner and Blitzen!"

Back From the House of the Mouse

Our annual Disney trip has come to an end and we are now back in Apex. Part of me is sad that we're not still in Florida, but the other part is glad to be home. There is, for sure, no place like home.

We left for WDW last Sunday. Andrew has flown before, but not where he has his own seat. He did wonderfully. He sat in his seat the whole time and either colored or watched Curious George. He was extremely excited about flying to Mickey Mouse's house. On Monday we went to the Magic Kingdom. I wish I had a picture of Andrew's eyes when he walked under the train station and into the park. He was in complete awe! I've been to WDW many, many times in my almost 30 years of life. I even worked for the Mouse for a short stint, but seeing WDW through my child's eyes has to be one of the best things I've ever experienced. We rode every ride numerous times and each time had more fun. Andrew's favorite ride is Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger. He will remind us that Zurg is the bad guy and Daddy is the good guy. The rest of the week was spent shuffling around all the other parks. Andrew was an absolute angel the whole time.

Andrew did have a first this week. He and Nonnie went on a date to the movies. He went to the movie theater and saw Alvin and the Chipmunks AND sat through the whole thing. Nonnie said he was a perfect date. He ate lots of popcorn and Lem & M's (M&Ms) too!

In theory meeting all of the characters was a swell idea, but when it came time to meet n greet he wasn't so excited. Poor Chip & Dale must have a complex after he reminded them numerous times they were squirrels and NOT chipmunks. He calls them chipmunks now, but he was convinced they were squirrels. Every time they walked by he would say, "Bye squirrels. See ya tomorrow."

We have a ton of pictures from the trip. Here are a few to tide you over until I get them all downloaded.

Mistletoe Run - Half Marathon

Mama is at it again. She's going to run another half marathon in December. This time we're traveling to Winston Salem for her run. I guess I better bundle up so I can cheer her on the whole time.

Ready, Set, Go

This just in..... OFFICIAL TIME: Amy Perry F 29 Apex, NC 1:52:28.

I have officially completed my very first half marathon. What an experience! I was up at 5:00am this morning getting my self pepped to run 13.1 miles. I had the wonderful fortune of running with a wonderful gal named Kristen. Her goal time was 2 hours just like me. I had no idea what to expect, but Kristen had completed a couple of marathons and a few half marathons. We stuck together the whole time and can I say for the record WE ROLLED SOME FOLK! On mile 11 a volunteer told us that at this point we were running 8 min 35 second miles. I don't think I've ever done that before! I don't have my official time, but the un-official time is 1:53:34.

The best thing of this marathon... seeing my beautiful son and husband waiting for me at the finish line. Priceless.

Thanks to all the volunteers and Raleighites who braved the freezing cold to cheer us on, hand out water and keep us going. Kudos to you!

Kristen has put the bug in my ear to do the Disney Marathon. Hmmm, next goal?

I'll post pictures once Robbie fixes the camera. Andrew decided to "play" with it after the race.

For the record I was styling and profiling the UConn Basketball shirt. I've completed my end of the bet. I'll put that shirt to better use... a dust rag.

Proof that I paid my dues for a lost bet. Post run.

Horrid Halloween

Halloween took on many forms for the Perry household. This morning gave way to a chipper start. I had to wake Andrew up from his slumber, he put on his Thomas the Train jammies without me having to tie him down AND he hopped, skipped and jumped into school this morning. Hallelujah for a good start to the morning! Since Andrew's school doesn't celebrate Halloween they had the kids wear their jammies to school and had a Fall Festival party. Works for me. Worked for Andrew.

Fast forward to 5:30pm. Said wonderful child is waiting for me to pick him up. I remind him we need to rush home and change into our Halloween costume. We're going to church to play and get candy at the Fall Festival. I should've known that Mr. Happy Go Lucky's wonderful attitude would come to a crashing halt at some point and time. He picked 5:30pm today to do so. All I heard on the short drive home is, "No, I don't want to XYZ." Over and over and over again. Fine, you don't want to go to church. Ok, we'll go trick or treating. Second verse same as the first. My mom was waiting for us at the house to tag along for tonight's fun times. It took us (I'm not kidding.) over an hour to coax Andrew into part of his costume. It finally got to the point where Nonnie was pulling the "wooden paddle" card. At 7:05pm we pulled out of our garage and headed to our church. We pull into the parking lot and there's big sign that says, "Fall Festival 5:30 - 7:30". I'm so irate at this point I pull the car out of the parking lot, take him straight to Auntie Heather's house and dare him to pitch a fit. He won't walk over to her to get his treats, I have to carry him. We leave with a bag full of sugary goodness and now he's happy as a lark. We take him to get some dinner and he's still happy. Get home and the switch has been flipped. At this point in the night we have ZERO pictures of Andrew dressed as Dr. McSteamy. I beg him to please stand still long enough to take a couple of pictures. I bribe him with pop pops and anything else I can. I finally managed to get a few good pictures. For the rest of the night I fight bath time and bed time. Put a fork in me, I'm over done.

Dr. McSteamy for all of you Grey's fans.

Yay for jammies!

I'm really ticked you're making me do this, Mom!

Trick or Treat!

Hello, Ladies. My name is Dr. McSteamy.

Digging in his bag of sugary goodness.

Look at me, I'm standing on the coffee table.

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

Betcha didn't know that the song Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes has new lyrics. Andrew came home from school this week singing his latest and greatest hit from school. Without further ado... Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.

What Happens When You Bet Mama

Many of you know that I'm competitive by nature. This is what happened to a poor sucker at work who bet me that UConn (I know, keep the vomit down) could beat UVA. Said sucker had to wear a beautiful Duke T-shirt to a UConn game because he LOST to me. I'll let you be the judge, but I think it was a poor attempt on his part of paying up on the bet. I would have gladly admitted defeat (rarely happens) and worn the ugliest UConn shirt to a Duke game. I would have even glamorously worn the ugly shirt. I'm taking votes. Do you think he paid up or should he have to wear the shirt again?

Seeing this makes me laugh hysterically!

Purple Haze

Well, it seems our beloved Pirates were in a complete haze last night playing the NCSU Wolfcrap. Er, I mean Wolfpack. I've never in my life seen such a gaggle of crap football. The highlight of the game... tailgating with Uncle Matt and Aunt Kimmy. Uncle Matt (AKA chef extraordinaire) was on top of his game yesterday with the menu. Granted I don't eat pork, but the rest of the gang ate themselves silly. Matt was nice enough to stop and buy hotdogs for me. Thanks for not letting me starve. Last night was a great night for football. Crying shame we weren't on the winning side of things. Oh well, there's always next year.

Go Pirates!

Arghhh!

Making Up For Lost Time

I haven't posted pictures in a long time (clearly obvious by the amount left on the camera). Here are some of our day with Colin and the pumpkin patch with Hayden. Enjoy!
My beloved sprinkler. It's our AMEX... we don't leave home without it.

Bye pumpkins!

My "perfect" pumpkin

This is MY pumpkin, Mom.

My buddy, Hayden. We had the best time at the pumpkin farm.

Total cutie.

Cheese! Andrew and Colin playing together.

How cute is he?

My big boy. Really stinkin' cute IMO.
