Crystal Coast (Morehead City) Half Marathon

After taking a 2 month sabbatical from running in races, I cranked things up and decided to run in another half marathon. Who wouldn't want to run at the beach? For starters there should be little to no hills (exception would be bridges), which is always a plus AND it's at the beach. Sign this gal up! I'm sure many of you experienced the same kind of weather we had at the beach... windy and rainy. I'm hear to tell you folks that if Noah himself cruised right by me it wouldn't have shocked me in the least. The race was delayed 30 minutes to let the "storms" pass. BIG MISTAKE! That storm didn't pass until we were exactly half way through the race. What's the point in giving up? You're still 6.5/7 miles from where you started. All 4'9" of me kept rolling. I was soaked from head to toe. I'm sure the people behind me loved looking at my underwear. I had to keep pulling my pants up since the amount of water absorbed at the cuffs/ankles kept pulling my pants down. What a site to behold I assure you! Around mile 10 the rain let up and I started to dry out some. The winds on the other hand did not. The weatherman reported winds up to 55+ mph. I truly believed at one time I could impersonate Superman and fly through the air. I kid you not!

With all that being said... here's my time. I'm very proud considering I haven't been training and my last half marathon was in December. I'm sure the next part will surprise many of you. I'm all about the shock factor if you can't tell.

3^rd place in my age group, 97^th overall!

Countdown is on

T minus 11 days until this girlie turns the BIG 3 OH!

Normally most people flip their tops with the thought of turning a decade older, but I am embracing 30 and giving her a run for her money!

Another countdown... Andrew turns 3 in less than a month (27 days). Can you believe it? Can you wrap your head around that? I, for one, cannot. My baby is getting BIG!

Bojangles

My friends, it has been a long, long time since this chick has delighted in the goodness known to us Southerners as Bojangles. Tonight the hubs, tod and I indulged in sweet tea, biscuits and the best dang french fries this side of the Mason Dixon line (Mama had a salad as her main course). Thank you Jesus for Bojangles! Amen.
