Official Business

The face of an angel
Weird Science Hair-do
Hello fans -
It's official... I'm now a walker. I still think crawling is quicker, but I sure do love taking steps. I get quite a reaction out of Daddy and Mommy when I do. Daddy and Mommy love it and Maggie and Tootsie fear me. I believe I need to learn to pace myself showing off all my tricks. I've got to keep them coming back for more. My Grammy told Mommy I'd be walking by 11 months (that's when Mommy started walking). Mommy told Grammy she didn't think so since I haven't been practicing much. Boy oh boy did I show her. Who's the B-O-S-S in this H-O-U-S-E?? That would be me, Andrew, little monkey, Perry. Life is good! Off I go... I've got doggies to chase and fans to impress.
Foot loose and fancy free,
Andrew

Ear Aches/Gas & Eat Mor Chikin

After getting up twice in one night and screaming, I was sure Andrew was getting an ear infection. I called the pediatrician's office and naturally the only appt. they had available was 2:10pm. I scheduled Andrew for this appt. and Grammy graciously volunteered to watch him while I was in class. I would have skipped class, but I had a test. No show for test = ZERO. I can't tarnish my A average with a big fat "0". I called my mom to check on him after my class and she thought he was perfectly fine. She mentioned he may have had gas last night. Let's stop and rewind to April 2005 - July 2005. This kid wailed and wailed with colic. My colic meter is completely tapped out and shall stay that way until I take my last breath (I pray!)! Shouldn't he be completely over gas??? I mean he has no problem letting it fly any other time. Why is it he choses to have problems with gas at 3:45am and 6:00am?? I'm done with gas problems. Done, finished, no more. Be just like a grown man and let it go. Two years from now I'll be punishing him for doing it in the most inappropriate places. He better get it out now while he can! I get home and Mr. Wake Up WAY TOO Early was just a chipper little monkey. I guess it was gas.
Since he was in a better mood and it was beautiful outside I decided we needed lunch and playground time. Off to Chick-Fil-A for nuggets and fries. YUMMY, YUMMY! Normally Andrew may eat one nugget and the equivalent to one fry, but homeslice ate 2 whole nuggets and at least 4 fries plus a jar of applesauce. Can we say CHUNKYBUTT! He was a good boy and loved watching all the other tots in Chick-Fil-A. We'll definitely have to visit more often. The only thing I have a problem with and I'll cross that bridge when I get there is the filthy playground. I don't care how much bleach and water they use, that playground is gross. You see snot nosed, dirty kids who have grease, ice cream, and chicken all over them (barefoot at that) monkeying around in a 10X10 room. This is what a mother knows as a breeding ground for colds, flu, and nasty gunk. Don't we all strive to keep our precious angels well? Don't you take pride in being able to sit in the "Well" section of your pediatrician's office? I do. Guess I better start praying now on how to address that issue.
He's up from his nap... must go and take care of little monkey.
Have a great day!

Love with a chicken nugget on top,
Andrew, Mommy & Daddy

My Feet Were Made For Walking

Andrew took his first steps on Wednesday. Since Wednesday we haven't had anymore steps, but he stood alone for at least 4 seconds or so last night. While some of you may think 4 seconds isn't a long time, it is for a child. Holy cow that's probably 30 min. in adult time. Of course I screamed when he did it which made him look at me like I was nuts (the jury is still out on that one). I started clapping and he gave me his toothy smile. We will keep you all posted when he runs the New York Marathon in the next few months.

Have you heard??? We're supposed to get some actual "Winter" weather this weekend. I love snow and I hate snow. I do want Andrew to experience the goodness of snow, but then I want it to melt immediately. I believe my little monkey may enjoy watching the snow fall. Right now he's in the phase where he reaches up to the sky. I'm pretty sure it's b/c we let him pull the ceiling fan cord and now he's just fascinated with reaching up to the ceiling/sky. I can see my cutie pie sitting in a pile of snow just reaching for the flakes. Ok, back to reality. We'll probably get messy sleet/rain.

Take care and enjoy the weekend. If anything else exciting happens I'll be sure to post it.

Ta ta,
The Perry Family

Welcomed Visitors

This weekend Andrew's cousins, aunt and uncle had a sleep over with us. I'm not sure who was more excited about this slumber party, me or them. We don't get to see Bryn and Reese (Christy and Brent too) often, which made this night oh so WONDERFUL! Not even the dreary weather could keep us down. I guess I should side note and mention the reason for their visit...we have a new little cousin in our family. Dana gave birth to a precious baby girl who goes by the name of Lillie Faith. She may go by Lillie one day to her cute girlfriends, but to us she is Lillie Faith. We're growing strong in #s I tell you! The week before Lillie Faith was born we had a Lucy Anne arrive in the southern state of Georgia. Welcome little Lucy! Anyway, back to my girls coming for a visit. The family gave Lillie a shower and bless their sweet souls needed a place to stay since the drive to Huntersville is 2.5 hours. I of course jumped at the opportunity to have "my babies" stay with us. Andrew loves Bryn and Reese. I think he's mesmerized by the things they do. What 10 month old doesn't love to push the buttons on a game boy and what Nemo swim across the screen? Those of you who are aunts and uncles know that you'll buy or do anything your nieces and nephews want b/c it's an unspoken rule. You'll empty the bank account to make sure their stay is the best ever. I had goodies waiting for them when they got to our house. Once the family arrived in the "Peak of Good Living" we had to decide where to eat dinner. I'll give you three guesses what Bryn and Reese wanted. If you guessed pizza you would be correct. Please keep in mind Andrew has not had an afternoon nap and this = cranky baby very early in the pm. On we go to Italian Pie to devour yummy pizza and salads. Our good time was cut short b/c Mr. Cranky Pants wanted to get home and go to bed. Once we get home and put his pj's on he's ready to romp and play, or should I say show off. Hmm... wonder where he gets that from??? We humored him for a bit and then it really was bed time. Down you go little monkey... see you in the am. Bryn and Reese discover all of Andrew's toys and the treadmill in the bonus room meanwhile. All of a sudden their energy was back to FULL. They both had to have their turn on the treadmill. I've never seen two skinny gals want to spend so... much time on a machine that usually brings most of us groans and grief. Keep in mind they are 3 and 6. Finally bed time came for them, which left the grown-ups to have their fun. Fun = flopping on the floor watching Thurs. night's episode of Survivor and chatting until 12:30 am. Who's tired??? That would be ME! Who was up at the crack of dawn? That would be Bryn and Reese! We had a pancake breakfast and my sweeties had to pack up and go home. I miss them already! I've promised to bring Andrew for a visit to the wonderful town of Huntersville.

Off I go to write a paper for school. BOO work!
Have a great week ya'll!

Tough Lesson to Learn, but Everyone's Gotta do it!

As a mother I want Andrew to learn and completely understand right from wrong. What mother wouldn't want that for her child??? Thus my post...

This is mainly geared toward the NON Duke fans. Today's lesson is called "How to lose a game and NOT be a whiny baby". Maybe I should title this lesson "How to build a bridge and GET OVER IT!". As you all know a very important game was played by my Blue Devils on Tuesday. Yes, we narrowly won, but let's remember a win is a win. It's very common to hear a Tarhole fan start whining days before and after a big game, and some of my State people are catching up quickly with the enemy. Is it part of the freshman curriculum to take How to be a sore loser/whiny baby 101? Lord knows the whole lot of 'em whine worse than my 10 month old. If I hear someone moan and groan about bad calls from the refs I am going to take hostages. Quit blaming the refs! That excuse is getting VERY, VERY old and worn slap out! I must say that every team gets their fair share of "bad" calls. You also don't hear a bloody word outta these fans while their team is up and wearing some other team out, but as soon as their team starts to lose it's automatically the ref's fault. Did you ever stop to think that 1) Your team sucks 2) The other team is better 3) The other team has better luck 4) Your coach should be leading pee wee ball? I'll admit Duke isn't all they are cracked up to be, but when the rubber meets the road they somehow (be it luck or maybe skill) get the job done.

So, my dear friends, learn to take a loss with dignity and not whine and take a win without being a pompous oaf.

Lots of Blue Devil love,
Robbie, Amy and Duke's next player Andrew

Call me Student, Sitter and Mommy

Most of you know I'm back in school. Call me crazy, right?!? Couldn't I have done it right the first go round and thousands of dollars later? Nah, what fun is that?
Coming to a dental office near you in 2009.

So I've thrown school in with my daily responsibilities of being Mommy, but did you know I'm also playing sitter to a 7 week old named Jake? I was looking for a way to make a little extra money and God heard my prayers. I know what you're saying, "She's nuts!" and maybe I am, but I look at this opportunity as a learning experience. I do hope one day to have another sweet, little monkey and what a better way to see what it's like to have 2 young ones. Of course mine won't be this close in age, but if I can do it now to be sure I can do it later. Nothing like a little challenge!

Now to my pride and joy, the apple of my eye, my little monk monk...
Andrew has me smitten. Over the past couple of weeks he's evolved into this little man. I know every mother thinks this about her child, but Andrew Perry is so... SMART! He amazes me every day at the things he does. What really grabs my heart is the look he gives me. He smiles with his eyes and his mouth. It's pure love!!! He's on his way to walking. I see it happening within the next few weeks.

Off subject, but very important...
I'd like to throw support to the Duke Blue Devils. Tonight is a BIG game for our boys and I refuse to think the Tarholes are going to win (even if the game is being played in the armpit of hell)! GO get 'em DEVILS! The Perry family will be watching with much excitement.
