Noteable Quote

From the lips of one great 4 year old.

"Wal-Mart has everything you need. That's for sure woman!" - Andrew Perry

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Proud

Today I feel overwhelmed with pride for my boys. So much so I feel the need to write it out for you and of course documentation purposes.

Andrew is every bit a big boy. His stature may be on the petite side, but everything else about him is big. His has a huge heart. He's full of love. He's smart as a whip and loves to learn. He's my first born and I cannot help but be proud at how wonderful he is. Again, not my doing, but the Lord's. Two people today stopped Robbie and me at church to tell us how much they love Andrew, how smart and how wonderful they think he is. It makes my heart swell with pride to know that others feel about him (maybe not as strongly) as I do. He is a wonderful little creature! He's starting to get really excited about Kindergarten. Let's hope this passion continues for the next 13 years. Tomorrow marks the one month countdown to Andrew's 5th birthday. I'm going to sound old when I say this, but I can remember the day he was born like it was yesterday. Every little detail is stored in my mind.

Zachary is still a little hurricane. He stops at nothing and nothing stops him. He is large and in charge. I've had several people tell me they would never know he was a preemie. Thank you, Lord! For sure (this is Andrew's latest phrase, but pronounced Fo' Sho) it had nothing to do with me or Robbie, but God himself who delicately cared for my little man. Every day I look at him I overwhelmed by the miracle known as Zachary. Have I mentioned that I'm his preferred companion. He calls me NON-STOP all.day.long. Mama, Mama, Mama, Mama. I shall never forget my name.

Since there aren't 30 days in February today marks Zachary's 19 month. I know it's an odd # to write about, but I missed 18 months.

  • You love to talk. Some I can understand and some I cannot.
  • You will eat absolutely anything I give you. Edamame, pico de gallo, guacamole, etc. Thank you for loving to eat.
  • You are graduating out of 12 month clothes. They really should make 15 month clothes. 12 month is really snug, but 18 month is too big.
  • You sleep well. Thank you!
  • You love to play in the child care at the gym. Again, thank you.
  • You love to tell people "Hi" and "Bye Bye" and you understand the concepts of coming and going.
  • You have excellent fine and gross motor skills
  • You know how to open door and if you had a little more height would lock and unlock them too!
  • You tell us "night night" when you are sleepy.
  • You suck your thumb and I LOVE IT!
  • You have a special corner in your crib that you sleep in. The left side of the crib has yet to have your head grace it.
  • You love to sing
  • With your love of singing you love to dance
  • You're trying to sing your ABCs
  • You are a much more pleasant car rider than you were 6 months ago
  • You'd rather play with Andrew's toys than your own
  • You recognize Dora and Alvin (the chipmunk) and call them by name
  • You think bath time is pool time. It isn't.
  • You've successfully pulled almost every key off my laptop keyboard. Not good.
  • You like to brush your teeth.
  • You tell Maggie to "STOP" when she barks.
  • Everything is "MINE" and said with such enthusiasm.
  • You know how to turn the water on in the tub and have successfully climbed in without anyone watching you. Not good!
  • You're pretty stinkin' cute!
  • You love to play basketball with your daddy
I'm in love. That's fo sho.

It's Official

Andrew was accepted at Cary Christian School for Kindergarten.

Robbie and I had our interview today and were verbally given our acceptance and will receive our written acceptance in the next couple of days. We are so thankful God opened this door for us.

I am glad to have the Kindergarten application process behind me. Now we can focus on getting Andrew as prepared as we can for his first big year of school.

Short Stack Saturday

With the snow we received a couple of weeks ago came a new tradition for the Perry family. Mama, that's me, now serves up short stacks of pancakes on Saturdays and Saturdays only - AKA Short Stack Saturday. I have finally mastered making what I think is a pretty good batter, the right temperature for my skillet and could put IHOP slam outta business (exaggeration).

Since it is officially snowing (again), tomorrow will be a good day for a short stack of pancakes. If you're lucky you may find bananas, chocolate chips or blueberries in your stack. I may try my luck at heart shape pancakes tomorrow. I'm feeling saucy.

PS. HRM - NACHO even has a mug that goes with the title. It's a sign!

Sunday, February 07, 2010

This past Sunday my church, Salem Baptist Church, met in our new building for the first time. This building has been prayed for for many years. We had to have 3 services to accommodate everyone. Well, not anymore! Praise God he packed the house on Sunday! We had roughly 900 chairs and people were still standing! 77 people made a profession of faith on Sunday! Please pray that these professions were genuine.

Our guest speaker was Clayton King. He is a young evangelist who has a huge heart for serving the Lord! He was awesome! I could have listened to him for hours on end. If you'd like to hear some of Clayton's messages go HERE. His podcasts are free. Be prepared to be blessed. I look forward to hearing Clayton speak again. If you hear he is coming to a church near you, go. You will not be disappointed.

Notice

Dear Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) -
Can you PLEASE, please, PLEASE stop canceling school? Day 1 of no school was fun. Day 2 not as much fun. Quite honestly it wasn't fun at all. Now we're working on Day 3?!?!? Please, I beg of you, take my child back to school. I know, I know, he's only in for half a day, but it's a half a day that he and I both need. Mr. Weatherman says we're supposed to get up to 51 degrees tomorrow. You should have ZERO reason to cancel school on Thursday. At least tell our school that it's game on so I can take Andrew to school. Please. Pretty please.

Sincerely,
Amy Perry

Snow Fun 2010

NC received a good dose of snow this past weekend. We didn't receive nearly as much as last year, but plenty to romp around in. This was the first snow that Zachary could go in. Last year he was too little to enjoy. I believe he had more fun in the snow than me, Robbie and Andrew put together. He's our little thrill seeker for sure. Dare devil if you please. He enjoys sledding and the wind in his face. He's not a big fan of gloves either. Andrew played in the snow for hours. It's a shame the snow becomes annoying after a couple of days. It provides hours of endless entertainment. Andrew and Robbie went sledding for about an hour on Saturday and came back frozen to the core. We drove over to a neighborhood with lots of hills to take advantage of said snow. I'm sure it took quite a bit of coaxing to get Andrew to come back to the van. Zachary and I waited in the van. Zachary started shivering after 10 minutes outside. Never fear... I had him bundled snuggly. It was just freezing cold. It was nice to enjoy an activity as a family.

Today is Tuesday and the snow is still lingering. School was canceled for the 2nd day in a row. It's raining and that really makes the situation even more annoying. Enough already! What's even worse?? The weather folks (aren't we all weathermen? It takes very little skill these days.) are saying we may get more snow/sleet this weekend. AGHHHH!!

It's time to wrap up Snow Fun 2010. Bring on spring and summer!

Learning to Feed

This is what happens when you let one 18 month old loose with a spoon and a cup of Yo Baby Yogurt. Only a semi HOT MESS. OCDers beware! This may cause slight nervous twitches and convulsions.

At least the spoon made it to the mouth.

Look at me!!! I can feed myself yogurt.

There's the face I love!
