Halloween

Andrew and I may be visiting cousins Bryn and Reese on Halloween this year. For the Charlotte ladies, that means I'll be in your neck of the woods. Bryn and Reese live in Huntersville, which I believe is in Leslie's area and probably not far from the rest of ya. We'd love to meet up with you guys. Hopefully I'll get to see Lily is full chicken gear. I'll keep you posted on this trip.

Smorgasbord of Things

Friday night Uncle Matt and Aunt Kimberly invited us over to eat dinner with them. Boy, did I have a good time! The food was absolutely yummy and I showed everyone my piggy style of eating. I had mac and cheese everywhere. Mommy even found some hidden on me when we got home. Uncle Matt also played with me, which I really liked. He's fun to play with and he makes lots of great sounds. He taught me how to make a real chicken sound. I'm not too sure if Mommy likes that or not, but it sure is funny. I slept really well Friday night. Must have been all that playing I did. Thanks Uncle Matt and Aunt Kimberly for having me over. I love you!

Saturday Mommy and I went with Grammy to Triangle Town Center. They took me to Barnes and Noble to pick up some new books and let me play in the kid area. I had a really good time playing on the stage. Mommy thinks I have a little drama in me by the way I show my temper sometimes. I like to throw down in the floor, kick, cry and sometimes scream. Grammy keeps telling her the "Terrible Twos" have already hit. Mommy keeps promising she'll show me who's boss, but I have no clue what she means by that. Not too sure I want to find out.

Grammy bought me a brand new Berenstein Bear book and a Dr. Seuss book. My mommy started collecting the Berenstein Bear books when she was a little girl and we keep adding to the collection. She says those books are now mine to read and enjoy. Right now I really like my Snuggle Puppy book. Mommy reads it to me every time I bring it to her. After we left the mall Grammy stopped at Bojangles because I really love their french fries. I can eat a whole bunch of them. I put one in each hand and gobble them up. I love eating them with ketchup too!

Saturday night we took Mommy's friend, Arvella to dinner at Outback. Auntie Vella graduated from massage therapy school and passed her boards. So now she can work giving massages, which I've heard Mommy say are to die for. Maybe Auntie Vella will give me a massage one day. We're very proud of Auntie Vella!

It's Been A Good Week!

For some reason this week Andrew has decided to go to bed around 8:00/8:30 and not rise until after 10:00am. Talk about getting plenty of sleep, which if you know me, you know this is a WONDERFUL thing. Robbie swears he's growing thus the sleep overload. He doesn't look any bigger to me, but maybe he is growing. I know he's got a new tooth coming in, which brings the total to 13 now. He's been extremely happy this week too!

I like this new schedule, it really works nicely. The only problem is our morning jog has been delayed or put off due to heat, but I'm not going to let that stop me. Fortunately there is a nice shady park with a jogging trail right down the road. Andrew really seems to enjoy this morning stroll. He sings, talks (babbles), screams, squeals, claps and sometimes sleeps. I have no idea what we're going to do when the weather turns cold (BOO!). He takes a nice long afternoon nap (btwn 2-3 hours) and wakes up just in time for DaDa to come home. We play, eat dinner, play/dance and off to bed he goes. We don't even have to force bedtime. The usual, "You ready to go night night?" does the trick. I'm lovin' this!

Well off to get ready for class. Week 2 of 20 weeks. I sure hope I can make it.

Pullen Park

After Andrew got up from his morning nap Robbie and I decided to take him for a haircut and fun time at Pullen Park. I must say JJ's did a lot better job on Andrew's hair than SnipIts. Nothing against the folks at SnipIts, but Andrew actually smiled the whole time and didn't shed one tear. Of course it might have been the cute receptionist flirting with him that kept him in control. My little man looks all dapper with his fresh new cut.

Off to Pullen Park to romp around for a few hours. Andrew got to ride in the boats, train and the carousel. All of which he thoroughly enjoyed. We wore him out! Of course he couldn't go down for a nap b/c last night we celebrated Uncle Chris' 36th b-day. Grammy cooked dinner, which was oh so yummy (as always). For dessert she made a black forest cake. The clencher, the cake was a Weight Watchers recipe and it was so good I ate 2 pieces. I may ride back over there today and get some more.

Off to church this morning where Andrew played like a smart, little boy. As soon as we got home he went down for a nap, which bring us to right now. Mommy and Daddy enjoying lunch while the lil bugger sleeps.

Ladies Weekend

I had the opportunity to go away for the weekend with just the ladies. My friend, Kathryn, is getting married September 30th and this weekend was the bachelorette weekend. We headed down to Wilmington to enjoy ourselves and celebrate Kat's pending wedding. Unfortunately Kat wasn't feeling all that great, which meant she really didn't get to enjoy herself. The rest of us enjoyed ourselves!
We headed out to Dockside for dinner on Friday night, which was yummy yummy! Crab cake sandwiches are highly recommended here. Saturday came with showers most of the day, so no beach time for us. We did manage to eat Sweet and Savory and stuff ourselves silly. Do you see a running theme here? We hit the mall due to the rain. It was rather chilly in Wilmington on Saturday and none of us had clothing that would keep us warm. Thus our mall excursion. Saturday night we ate at Boca Bay. I don't think I could give this restaurant enough stars! Gotta try the lobster ravioli and the key lime pie. Off to The Dirty Martini for after dinner drinks and socialization. The bride, her sister and I were the only ones entertained for the night by the other drinkers. It's amazing how much fun you can have even when you don't drink. We saw a whole lotta HOT MESS Saturday night. Lord have mercy! HOT MESS is all I'm going to say. I did find out that Sophia Bush from One Tree Hill is a B*&^% and Chad Michael Murray is a prick (am I allowed to write that?) and his cast mates think so as well. Hilary Burton is a sweet hippie and I think that's about it. I'll try to get more gossip for ya next time. OH! I do have the scoop on Sophia and Chad's break up. The actual dirrrty details.

Now for the part about my boys...
They had a great time lounging around in their underwear this weekend. They must have had a whole lot of fun b/c Andrew has a nice goose egg and bruise on his forehead. What did Mama say, "It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt?" Yeah, well, Andrew lost this round and it was against his microwave oven. OUCH! He seems perfectly fine. He was actually excited to see me when he woke up from his nap, which really made my day. I've been away from him before, but it's always hard.
Andrew got to spend a lot of time with his Grandpa Robert and his great grandparents, Papa and Mimi. According to Grandpa Robert, Andrew ran non-stop for 3 hours. I'm pretty sure they were all worn out just watching him. Andrew also hot to play with his Uncle Smutley who happens to be a very cute doggie.

Pretty entertaining weekend for the Perry's. Andrew and I are going to try our hardest to meet up with Rachel and Kirby this week for exercise and play time. Wish us luck! We've been unsuccessful nailing down a date.

Honey, We're Home

Well, we're back. I'd much rather be lounging around Myrtle Beach, but as they say, "all good things must come to an end." Boo hiss on the person who coined that phrase.

We headed out to the Alligator Adventure on Thursday and for the record, it was hotter than seven hells! We schlepped around that farm like a bunch of schmucks in 108 heat. Those animals probably chuckled inside at our stupidity. I had napkins shoved in my top to keep the sweat from pouring down my body. Needless to say we came, we left. On to the Aquarium at Broadway. Loads of fun for everyone and pumping AC. It was cold enough in there for penguins to march. Just how I like it! Andrew learned to say fish and tries to say shark. We got to see Nemo and Dory as well. Andrew really enjoyed going through the fish tank and seeing "Jaws".

Scott and Mimi (our neighbors) offered to watch Andrew one night so we could go out to dinner. Usually we visit Carolina Roadhouse at least once. We really like the croissants with honey drizzled on them. We arrive around 7:00pm on Friday (yes, I know it's Friday and it's beach season) to have the hostess tell us, "The wait is around 110 to 120 minutes." I promptly look at her, smile and say, "Um, no." I don't care if you're Emeril, I am not waiting 2 hours for food! I also thought telling wait time in "hundreds" of minutes wasn't a great idea. Go ahead and tell the poor soul you'll be waiting up to 2 hours for goodness sake! We ended up at Liberty Tap Room, which was equally delicious and their blue cheese dressing is to die for.

We rounded out our week at Myrtle Beach with some close friends back from the hometown of Durham. Shhh, don't tell anyone we're from Durham. We don't claim it. Anyway... the Riggs' family (this includes our close friends, their sons and DIL, Matt, Adam and Kimberly) called on Friday and wanted to meet up at Barefoot Landing for lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Riggs are like Robbie's 2nd family. Mr. Riggs hadn't had the opportunity to meet Andrew yet. Boy, did he get an overload. Andrew was quite fascinated with Mom and Dad Riggs and they with him. They spoiled him like he was their own. Mom Riggs took Andrew to Ocean Isle's museum, which of course he had a ball. He loved the sea turtle display! He's now the proud owner of Rocco the sea turtle and book about his trip to the seashore. We also got to see Talladega Nights while we were visiting the Riggs. Mr. and Mrs. Riggs wanted to watch Andrew so we could all go out and have a good time. Very funny movie. We laughed pretty much the whole time.

Well that's about it. If I think of more I'll post it. Glad to be home, but I still wish I was on vacation.

Can you hear the sound of the ocean, the feel of the sand and the heat from the sun? Don't cha wish you were here? We do!!! So far the Perry family is having a swell time at the beach. We hit the beach on Sunday afternoon and Andrew played till Mom and Dad could take no more. He loves eating the sand (I'm not too keen on that), he loves splashing in the water and he loves running down the beach giggling as we try to catch him. He never stops. I'm surprised he even sleeps b/c he's constantly moving. He also got to play with a doggie named Nala. I think she reminded him of his doggie, Maggie. He had a good time watching Nala play in the waves. I'm not much of a water person. I only go in water where I can see my feet and anything else swimming around. That would leave me with only the bathtub, pools, and the Caribbean. We have pictures of our excursion to the beach, but our server is down. I could download them to Robbie's computer, but I'm scared I'll forget to move them. I'll keep you waiting with much anticipation. It'll be worth the wait. Our neighbors are coming down today to join in the fun. Andrew loves playing with Diego and Anton, so I know he'll be glad to see them.

I decided to keep up with my running routine while on vacation. That way I won't feel like a complete lard butt when I get home. I started out early while it was still cool, but the sun here shines a lot hotter than the sun at home. I know this sounds crazy, but it does. I thought I was going to die! I was hoping some soul would take pity on me and either throw water on me or down my throat. Lesson learned: Run at night. Maybe I'll try the beach today.

Yesterday my boys humored me and went to the outlet mall with me. I found lots of great stuff, but I'm a bargain shopper so it has to be on sale. Andrew definitely takes after his father when it comes to shopping... HE HATES IT! Of course Robbie was in charge of handling him while I mingled through the racks. I'm more of the bargain shopper and found a couple of great things. Though there was a tre cute dress at Banana Republic I almost paid full price for. I may go back and get it, but we'll see. AHHHH they have some really cute ball pits at KB Toys. Andrew loved playing the circus tent ball pit. I must say I almost bought him that one too, but we've got all the ball pits we need. They also had a turtle and elephant ball pit. Anyone need one? I'm taking requests. Today I'm heading to the other outlet mall to do more damage to the check book. They have a J Crew at this one.

Once the McCloskey family arrives we're going to take the boys to all the fun parks and such. We want to hit Ripley's museums and the Alligator park at Barefoot Landing. Hopefully that will keep Andrew content. Did I mention my son hates the stroller (other than the jogging stroller)? I swear, we can't keep him contained! I'll let you know how things go with the museums/parks. Should make for entertaining reading.

We've been eating breakfast out lately and boy is it good. We hit IHOP on Sunday and I devoured my cheese blintzs. Try 'em next time you are at IHOP. Chick Fil-A chick n minis were on the menu yesterday and they were scrumptious too. I believe we're going to Cracker Barrel this morning if Andrew ever wakes up. He's been sleeping in late this week and enjoying his vacation too.
