Let Me Tell You About My

beautiful nephew! Colin Christopher Turner was born on June 26, 2006 at 11:51pm. He weighs a gracious 8 lbs. 11 oz. and is 20.5 inches. He's got a beautiful round head with lots of dark hair. He may even have a little curl to it. We didn't get to spend much time with him b/c he was born so late and Lauren needed to recover from her c-section. Poor Lauren was admitted at 8:30am, given pitocin around 10:00amish and by 11:00pm was still at 4.5cm. The doctor recommended a c-section and she gladly accepted. Thus, we have a baby boy today and not waiting on him right now. Rest assure I will be back at the hospital today/tonight to love on Colin and get lots of pictures. For now here are the only 2 pictures I got at 12:30am.

Colin with his Daddy. Can you tell he's proud?

Fresh out of the oven.

I forgot how wonderful little babies are, but then again I got a full night's sleep. Chris only got one hour.

Weekend O' Fun!

The Perry family had a nice busy weekend. We started the weekend on Friday. Andrew and I met Bryn and Reese (my nieces) at the Museum of Life and Science on Friday. They are staying with their Nanny and Papa while their daddy and mommy are in St. Lucia on vacation. Andrew really seemed to enjoy himself, especially in the butterfly house. I haven't been to the museum since elementary school (a long, long time ago). I didn't realize they had moved the complex across the street and added a WHOLE lot on to it. We got to see the bears and the lemurs but no wolves. I guess it was too hot for them. Oh, and we got to see lots and lots of bugs. Some cute bugs and some nasty, ugly bugs. Gross! I think Andrew's favorite part of the trip was the train ride. He got to see a real train and say, "choo choo" while we road around the track. All in all a good time was had by all at the museum. We're going to go back before too long so we can finish exploring the museum.

On Saturday Andrew got to play with Bryn and Reese some more. We ate lunch with them and their Nanny at the mall and played on the indoor playground. Andrew really enjoyed climbing up and down the slide. He's gotten really good at running too. Yes, I said running. He moved NON STOP. There is no rest for my tired, old bones. Andrew really had a great time with his cousins. He loves playing with them. They seem to love "Baby Andrew" too. Andrew played in the sprinkler this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed himself. He didn't want to stop playing. The sprinkler pictures are posted on our website since there are too many of them (www.perry-apex.com) Later that night Grammy watched Andrew so we could have a date night. For us, that means dinner, renting a movie, going to Target and/or Lowes and trying to stay awake long enough to make it through the movie. We were successful this weekend and made it until 11:15 before crashing.

Today, Andrew was a smart boy at church. He was playing hard when we went to pick him up from the nursery. He was really smart too when we went to lunch. He ate like a good boy and told us "no" when he didn't want what we were offering. He loves hushpuppies by the way. I guess I'll have to start incorporating those into his daily diet. Today was also Aunt Kat's shower. Depsite the rain we had a really nice turnout and a fun shower. Kat got lots of great gifts. By the way, for those of you wondering Kat has 97 days until her wedding. That was one of the game questions. Can you believe even the bride didn't know that?? Now we're wrapping up a long weekend. Grammy cooked dinner, which was yummy, yummy. Aunt Lauren is still very much pregnant and Uncle Chris is chilling waiting for his little boy to arrive. We should have us a baby boy tomorrow or Tuesday depending on how fast Aunt Lauren can work her magic. Knowing we'll have a new addition in the family soon is exciting and good note to leave on. I'll post pictures and Colin Christopher's stats once we have them.
New pictures of Andrew on the website. Oh, new words for Andrew include Papa, uh-oh, a version of thank you, milk, poop, juice, fruit, pretty and no. He pats cakes, waves, high fives and the greatest... eskimo kisses. I love my eskimo kisses!!
Have a great week!

Playdate at Alex's House

was so... much fun! Andrew wore himself slap out. We got home at 1:00 and he has been asleep ever since (Time now is 5:21pm). I think it was the water table that got him. We now have to invest one b/c he was enthralled by it. I had to strip him down to a diaper since he managed to sponge up water in his shirt, short, socks and sneakers. Of course I didn't pull the camera out for this trip, but rest assured I will for the next one.

We met Maria and Alex today (they live in the hood) and enjoyed spending time with them. Alex is a couple of months older than Andrew, but they played and had fun nonetheless. Alex has extremely cool toys at his house, which makes our house seem boring. We definitely have to get a ball pit that has basketball goals in it. I believe Andrew has made a new BFF (for those of you who have completely erased high schools days out of your mind = best friend forever). We're looking forward to having Maria and Alex over for play time.
Thanks for having us over!

Aunt Kat's shower is this weekend. I'm looking forward to hosting this event with a couple other gals. It's a Kitchen and Recipe shower and we've got really cute plans set out for this event. Aunt Kat, I know you read this... I'm not telling you ANYTHING about it! It's gonna be a surprise this time.

AH... I heard from Jake's mom yesterday. They have finally arrived in California! I believe homesickness has set in. My little man is 6 months old today! Happy 6 month b-day Jakemester. I miss you mucho!

It is now 5:28pm and Andrew just squealed. Talk about a GOOD nap! Snack time.

Have a great rest of the week! Enjoy this wonderful weather.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Andrew got to experience his first baseball game on Friday night. Aunt Kat and Uncle Scott invited us to go with them to see the Durham Bulls play. I didn't have high expectations for Andrew lasting too long, but I'm here to tell you he outlasted the big people. The game started at 7:00pm and he was going strong until 9:30. He was getting a little fussy and so we decided to leave. The game was almost over anyway, so no biggie. Robbie and I thought for sure he'd fall asleep in the car on the way home. NO WAY Jose! He was wired. Guess he had too much fun playing with Aunt Kat and Uncle Scott. My boy did not put his head down to sleep until 10:30.

Side note: We also learned Andrew loves funnel cakes (he is my child) and no matter how scrunched up he makes his face, he likes snow cones too.

Thank you Aunt Kat for the tickets! We look forward to going back with you guys soon. A great time was had by all!

***************************************

Andrew participated in his first Race for the Cure on Saturday. Boy, was Meredith College a "mad house"! I felt like we were at a bull stampede in Spain or something. Next year we're getting at the front of the line no matter what they say. Even pushing a jogging stroller we were faster than most of those folk. Hopefully our participation will help save the lives of many women and some men too.

Cause it's ONE-TWO-THREE strikes you're out at the old ball game...

I Want My Daddy!!

No, Andrew can't quite say that now, but he darn sure can scream it. Andrew has shown us very early on he has a temper and it will NOT go away until what he wants is what he gets. We've got a long, hard road ahead of us!

Back to wanting Daddy. Robbie cannot go out of Andrew's sight before Andrew starts crying. I don't mean wimpering either. I mean out right "my feelings are so.... hurt" crying. He wants Robbie to pick him up all the time (he walks up, grabs his legs and does a squatting dance followed by "uh uh uh" noises). For the record, Andrew did not want me (Mommy) to pick him up or hold him at all on Saturday. Now most Moms would get terribly upset by this. I do not. I spent a good portion of Andrew's younger months being the ONLY one he wanted. My poor arms are now in resting state. I've got arm muscles to prove it.

Grammy kept Andrew for us Saturday night so we could go on a date. No kiss for me, no hug, no nothing. Oh well! I did look at him and laugh b/c I knew come Monday he'd have NO choice but me. Ha ha, joke is on you. Of course by Sunday he was ok with coming to Mommy. This morning he was ok with Mommy. Men, they can be so fickle sometimes!!!!!!

On to other things.....
Go see Over the Hedge. It's a very cute movie.

Ok, I've got a house to clean.

Enjoy the cooler weather today!
