It's been over a month since I last posted. I apologize a million times over for that. Life has been chaotic since I started back to work. I've made it 6 whole months back in the work force. I really like it. Don't get me wrong I miss my time with Andrew. The flip side is he's learned a ton at school, and is pretty darn smart if you ask me. His teachers always comment how great his vocabulary is and how well he speaks. His ability to relate concepts blows my mind. I'm done bragging, promise.
Some of you know and some are about to learn we are now on our 4
th daycare. The first daycare was torture for Andrew, the 2
nd daycare (Ms. Fin) was great except the fact she was running an illegal operation (sounds scandalous doesn't it?) by having too many kids in her care. The sad part is she was warned back in February about this. When I arrived to pick Andrew up from school the childcare consultant was waiting to break the bad news to Robbie and me. She told us Fin could possibly face jail b/c it was a felony offense to have more than 5 kids in her care. Needless to say that sent us in a tailspin. After a long search I found another in-home daycare that came recommended by another parent and the childcare consultant. We were with Ms. Shirley all of 5 days when she calls to say she has to have emergency open heart surgery. I promise in my wildest dreams I could not make this stuff up! Now we have to find another daycare and soon. It just so happens a brand new daycare opened right down the road from our house AND Allison and Sydney (twins from Ms. Fin's house) are going to be attending The Growing Years. At this point I'm quite confident I don't know how to pick a good daycare, so I enlist my
wonderful mom in the search. We pay a visit to
TGY and immediately are excited about the possibility of finding the "one".
Andrew started September 17
th at
TGY. The experience there has been
unbelievable! He's settled in quite nicely and this past week marked the first time we dropped him off with zero crying or even
acknowledging we'd left. What a huge accomplishment for him! Allison and Sydney also started this past week, which may have helped him tremendously. The girls seem to be doing well also. Andrew likes walking in with them in the morning. Did I mention they have webcams so I can watch him during the work day? I love it, I really love it!
I haven't taken any recent pictures of him, but since the pictures with Season he's grown a bunch. I'll take some today while we're out and about with friends at the pumpkin patch. I can note that he comes up to my belly button. Granted I'm not all that tall, but he's halfway theret to 4'9". I just hope he gets his height from Daddy and not Mommy's side of the family.
I'm still training for my half marathon. Things seem to be going well. I was able to complete 10 miles last Sunday. I believe I'll stick with that for another week or so and then crank it up to the full 13.1 miles. I've been asked why I don't go for the full marathon. My reply, "I'm crazy, but not THAT crazy." There aren't enough hours in the day to train for 26.2 miles. Sheesh, it makes me cringe just writing 26.2 miles. That would be like me leaving my house in Apex and driving to Pop's house or there abouts. No thank you!
Ooooh Halloween is upon us. We don't celebrate Halloween like most, but we do attend the Fall Festival at our church. I've got the best costume idea and I can't wait gather the necessary items for Andrew's 3rd Halloween costume. He's going to be "Dreamy". That's hint for ya.
